About
Hi, I’m Shelley, a pluralistic Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist.
I was born in Portsmouth and have had a few career changes over the years; my working life began in the Civil Service working for the Royal Navy until I took the decision to become self-employed and become a shop owner.

After a few years of early starts and long days, I sold up and decided to return to education and gain my degrees; a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Applied Computing which led to me working at the University of Portsmouth as a Lecturer for the last 24 years. This has given me many years of experience working with students and their many varied issues.
Over the years life has thrown me many challenges such as low self esteem, health issues, coping with a suicidal child, depression, grief, relationship issues and divorce. I have coped with some of these issues alone and for some I needed to undertake counselling. It was working with excellent counsellors who built up a trusting relationship with me and helped guide me through to a much better place that has been the key to me becoming the strong, confident person I am today.
After such positive experiences I decided to use my own experiences for the benefit of others and so a few years ago I decided that it was time for another change and I trained as a psychotherapist and hypnotherapist.
I now have my own private practice in Cosham and I am a volunteer for Butterflies Bereavement Support (bflies.org.uk), which is a charity run counselling service for those who have been bereaved or suffered loss
